Saturno, for *JillyFoo's Gender Dress contest. Saturno's from her comic Demon Eater (www.deamoneater.drunkduck.com), set in a world where demons are forced to cannibalize each other to survive.

Okay, here's my idea behind what Saturno's wearing: Nike is very particular about the members of the club being "dignified," so I could see him dressing Saturno in something a little more dressy; not quite a suit, but able to withstand a bit of wear and tear. Saturno, however, doesn't really care about becoming more like a human, and is thus still going without socks or shoes, and ripped the shoulders out of its shirt, because it's feathers were too crushed and uncomfortable (and as an artist, how could I ever cover up those awesome shoulders?!).

I also wanted to design a weapon for Saturno, and though I thought about it appropriating something from the human world, I still balked at the idea of pulling too much from there. So instead, Saturno's fighting with knives made of teeth that he ripped out of another demon (shhhh, the bones and fur attached totally make sense. TOTALLY. The demon just looked like that). In my head, I like to think that the teeth are from the land demon, just because it would be super badass if Saturno pulled them out of a huge mouth that was gonna eat it. I know Saturno isn't that strong yet, but I get the feeling that it's about to become a whole lot stronger, very soon...

And the last bit: Saturno's gender. I see Saturno refusing to make that choice. Maybe it's to mess with Nike so he can't hit on Saturno, or perhaps it's just because Saturno likes being different, I gave it a chest and, erm, well...a package...so to speak... In demon eater, bodies are just bodies! So it might be weird, but I don't see the gender mixing as too strange for Saturno.
